QGH Mission

Qartaba Governmental Hospital (QGH) is a public establishment that offers medical services to the surrounding communities.

Community served

The public hospital in Qartaba hosts 10 beds and serves the community surrounding Qartaba, Jbeil, Mount Lebanon, covering the upper south region of Jbeil district from Almet up to Akoura, Mazraet El-Siyyed, Yanouh, Mghayri, Mejdel, Lessa, Mzerib, Ghabat, Afqa, Jenneh w Mar Sarkis.

Assessment of the Needs of QGH

The Foundation has carried out a comprehensive assessment of the hospital’s physical infrastructure, encompassing structures, equipment, and utilities. The hospital’s requirements are as follows:

a. Infrastructure Improvement

  • Improve and finish the building from outside and inside.
  • Render the usable space inside functional without any expansion.
  • Enhance the Local Area Network and internet connectivity to enable telemedicine services.
  • Install an efficient solar system (solar panels, inverters, and mounting systems) to reduce the energy bills and lead to greater savings over time.

b. Medical Equipment

  • Light, cautery, minor surgery trays and appropriate suture materials.
  • Improve the radiology service with a supporting budget to train the present radiology technician in ultrasound and buying an ultrasound machine equipped with heart abdomen endovaginal and vascular probe.
  • Connect the radiology PACS system with another university center for emergency interpretation of radiology exam.
  • Equip the laboratory of the hospital with basic equipment and reactive and connect it with a physician in the university setting in order to offer daily or at least 4 days basic lab service per week.
  • Equip one of the available space for the cardiology clinic to offer screening for cardiovascular disease (stress test, heart ultrasound).
  • Equip another available space with what needed for the gynecology cancer prevention service (bed, Pap smear test).
  • Equip one space for physiotherapy and convalescence post hip knees and major surgeries.
  • Outfit the hospital ambulance with a mobile cardiovascular monitoring system.

1)        EKG is a valuable tool for diagnosing heart conditions that uses twelve different electrical signals from various angles to create a more comprehensive view of the heart’s electrical activity

c. Medications and Supplies

  • Equip one of the emergency room with material needed for minor surgery and suturing of lacerations.
  • Equip the ER with appropriate and needed vaccination and antidotes medications for insects and reptiles bites for anaphylaxis and for tetanus.

d. Healthcare Staffing

  • Creating an annual budget to support the present staff in order to survive the present crisis.
